PCPT have been appointed Culture and Heritage consultants working for our colleagues at Systra on the High Speed 2 rail skirting Birmingham.
Our role is to ensure the heritage is guarded in the design and implementation and operation of the line and that it is absorbed into the landscape of the place. Sections of the route we are involved in are through ancient parkland and Parliamentary Enclosure landscapes which are special and we need to insist these and the built heritage – houses, canals, Roman roads are not unnecessarily diminished. Our approach is to identify themes and heritage ‘hot-spots’ and the opportunity for interpretation.
