But our barn annex in Suffolk is on a far larger scale and involved us in the practical side of mixing, carrying, poring, climbing scaffold to cast hempcrete walls up to 400mm thick. Certainly, it was a satisfying – if exhausting experience, but as insulation cost start to soar, this all-natural approach of allowing walls to breathe – keeping warmth in in winter and out in summer, seems so sensible.
