It is with great sadness that PCPT have learnt that Peter Troy, former partner and director of Phillips Cutler Phillips Troy and thence PCPT, has passed away.  All our commiserations go to his wife and family.

Peter joined John Phillips and Derek Cutler in the 1960’s in the early years of the practice and together they established a reputation across the region for social housing working with early Housing Societies such as Parklands, Bromford, Greater Midlands, etc.  A style of red brick, large window and simple rational modern design was synonymous with PCPT and which you can still recognise today across Birmingham and the Black Country; a housing stock that stands out to remind us of an ambitious, pro-active society intent on improvement.

Peter was especially proud of the Cannock Hockey and Cricket Club which allied his love of sports with his professionalism, clear thinking and a determined character.  This development became an exemplar for clubs to re-invent themselves with enabling development and it has gone on to produce many of the region’s best sportsmen.

Peter was helpful and supportive of young architects, who could have tried the patience of others.  To say ‘his door was always open’ is true in every sense; for Peter’s office door was never closed and his infectious laugh would ring out over the whole floor.

Peter’s funeral is on 8th March 2018 at 3pm at Lodge Hill Cemetery and then after at Edgbaston Cricket Club.
